A Firelock Games Quartermaster at DieCon 26

Image
During the first weekend in June the town of Collinsville, IL outside of St. Louis, MO hosted DieCon 26. Since becoming a Quartermaster for Firelock Games last year, I knew I wanted to bring Blood & Plunder to the table for this and other local conventions. I ended up submitting to run a Sea Tournament and a Sea Battle during the convention. The St. Louis area has a small number of regular Blood & Plunder players so I hoped to round out our numbers for the tournament with some sign ups at the con. During the Great Pirate Paint Off (and the months that followed thanks to being the parent of a toddler) I created and painted up three demo forces to bring to the table. Before game submissions for DieCon 26 ended, I reached out about also hosting a land battle during one of the sessions. My DieCon weekend looked like this: Friday 2pm - 6pm: Blood & Plunder Sea Battle Saturday 10am - 5pm: Blood & Plunder Sea Tournament Sunday 2pm - 6pm: Blood & Plunder Land Battle I opted...

Using the Blood & Plunder Board Generator

Image
This post is showing my Blood & Plunder Board Generator  in use. To start, I created my deck of 3 red face cards, 3 red number cards, and 4 black cards. Then I split the board into 20 squares in a 5x4 grid. I used tape measures to begin to show the grid that I created to lay down each card. For this post, I wanted to auto-include a road. I rolled a 5 and added an L-shaped road. Next, I flipped the cards face up and rolled a die for each red card. A 10 on a red face is a large structure while a 2 on a red face is man-made cover. My road originally interfered with the next result, an 8 on a red number, which is natural cover. I turned my road to the opposite side so it would cross into an empty space and carried on. My next three results were a building  (though I accidentally treated it has man-made hard cover), natural cover, and natural hard cover. The top of the board has been generated. Now we will repeat the process for the bottom. These rolls were natural rough & ...

Battle Report: Sortie from Castillo San Marcos

Image
Sortie from Castillo San Marcos Summer of Plunder 2026 Week 1 This week, I played the Sortie from Castillo San Marcos scenario from the 2026 Organized Play Kit.  As a French player who also has a decent amount of Spanish models, I opted to fight the Spanish Force from the scenario. I brought a French Caribbean Militia force consisting of: 8 Milices des Caraïbes with an Untested Standard French Commander 6 Flibustiers with a Cook Fighting Man 8 Engagés Deployment The Spanish Milicianos Reformados with Jose de Zuniga Y La Cerda deployed in the center of attacker's deployment zone in hopes to deploy the other forces on the wings and still be in command range. I deployed my unit of Engagés first in an area where they would be able to move to cover while keeping my Trained units in reserve who would benefit from having more actions and could move and respond to the Spanish as the battle progressed. The French Engagés see the Spanish approach Turn I The Engagés move ...
